“FranksDen” a clever little wordplay on Frankston which we all know is a suburb of Melbourne in Victoria right?! True BUT FranksDen is anything but suburban!
Who are FranksDen? In short a collective of ‘creatives’ collaborating to enhance the live music scene, with a focus on Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula, and the overall Victorian live music scene.
FranksDen has combined 50 years’ experience in entertainment, incorporating diverse skill sets that include, event management, promotion, sound, lighting, design, art, video, recording, stage management, theatre, as well as being musicians, artists and creators.
Experience includes Big Day Out, The Muse Resistance Tour, Metallica Australian, Rainbow Serpent, Pitch and organising events across China and Asia.
Impressive resume – YEP!! But these guys are just about to put on one of the most electric home grown rock festivals held in regional Victoria at one of the oldest and most fascinating historical venue’s in town…keep reading…
Lead by the enthusiasm and tenacity of FranksDen creative Justin Richardson the team will be hosting the first ever “KILMORE ROCK MUSIC FESTIVAL” (KRMF) in Kilmore, Victoria’s second oldest town. The Venue to be the Old Kilmore Gaol which was decomissioned in 1891. The festival itself guaranteed to be an 18+ plethora of loud and proud Australian hard-rock!
Whilst the main event occurs in the gaol’s Meal Hall on Saturday 1st of February from 5pm, there is the opportunity to turn it into an overnight or weekend soiree with a multitude of options, sounds and vibes to tickle anyone’s fancy!
Looking for budget accommodation options – book your powered/unpowered camp or caravan site at the Kilmore Caravan Park which is less than 1km from the gaol or if that’s not to your taste try one of their cabins…there’s also a limited number of motels available for you to select from.
Have a snooze through the morning or check out the area before venturing out on Saturday to the KRMF showcase event at The Old Kilmore Gaol. An all-weather ticketed event (See details below) inside the 1800’s bluestone goal and featuring headline act Riff Raiders launching their second album, their latest single “Best Day Ever” and launching their third national tour.
Supported by The Vendettas, also launching their second album and launching a national tour.
So you’re going to hear some of this…..
And if you still got petrol left in the tank then head off to Mac’s Irish Pub again for a Sunday lunch and a chance to hear Gareth Huggett, Riff Raiders (Unplugged) and guests. (lunch deal available as add on to Saturday night ticketing – see below)
It looks to be a stellar weekend at the KILMORE ROCK MUSIC FESTIVAL and it’s great to see someone with initiative to move outside the urban zone – thanks FranksDen!!!
